The doctor listed possible diseases with asymmetrical shoe wear.
Asymmetrical shoe wear may indicate hidden problems in the musculoskeletal system (OA). But it is important to understand that this sign itself is not specific: it can be associated with foot pathology, gait features, and problems higher up — at the level of the hip joints or spine. On August 22, the Candidate of Medical Sciences, orthopedic traumatologist, told Izvestia about this. Priorova" Anatoly Mursalov.
"The main signs of hip dysplasia are shortening of the limb (real or functional), restriction of hip abduction, "stiffness" in the joint, a feeling of instability, "dislocation" or clicks in the joint, lameness or loss of gait symmetry," the doctor noted.
He explained that when a joint does not work properly, the biomechanics of gait are disrupted. A person begins to transfer the load on the left and right leg in different ways, the foot position changes. As a result, the sole or heel wear out unevenly. In children, this may be an early indirect signal; in adults, it is more often the result of chronic disorders, including dysplasia.
Mursalov listed additional symptoms that may accompany dysplasia. For example, pain in the groin or buttock, which increases after exercise, fatigue when walking, characteristic clicks in the joint, and in children, asymmetry of skin folds on the hip and buttock, and a delay in the formation of walking skills, can indicate the disease.
"The main causes of dysplasia in children are intrauterine factors (pelvic presentation, lack of water), hereditary predisposition, connective tissue features. In adults, this is more often an unexplained and untreated childhood dysplasia, which eventually leads to early cartilage wear and the formation of dysplastic coxarthrosis," said the orthopedic traumatologist.
He drew attention to the fact that asymmetric shoe wear is not a diagnosis, but a reason to take a closer look: if there are complaints or warning signs, it is worth showing the child to an orthopedist or undergoing an examination yourself.
Earlier, on May 22, Andrey Dzhadzhiev, Deputy Chief of Surgery at SM Clinic, shared with Izvestia the factors that influence the occurrence of postoperative hernias. According to him, the main causes of the formation may be dysplasia (abnormal formation) of connective tissue, low protein levels in the body, as well as excessive physical exertion.
