More than 50% of German residents do not believe in the resumption of economic growth under the current government led by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on August 21, citing the results of a survey conducted by the INSA sociological institute.

"Expectations about the economy <... Restrained: 55% of respondents do not believe in the resumption of German economic growth under Merz," the publication says.

According to the survey, only 11% of Germans believe that their financial situation will improve under the new government. Almost half (48%) expect it to remain at the same level, and more than a third (37%) believe it will worsen.

On August 19, N-tv channel reported that almost 70% of German residents are not satisfied with Merz's work. According to the survey, only 30% of Germans consider his work satisfactory, and 78% of the survey participants said that Merz is unable to fulfill his election promises.
