The death toll from starvation in the Gaza Strip has risen to 271, including 112 children. This was announced on August 21 by the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave.

"Two deaths from starvation and malnutrition have been recorded in hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 271, including 112 children," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

It is specified that the total number of victims admitted to hospitals over the past day has reached 2,036 dead and more than 15,064 injured.

On August 4, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported an increase to 180 people in the number of deaths from starvation amid the blockade of the Gaza Strip. At that time, 93 children were among the dead. Later, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said that Israel's refusal to provide the citizens of the Gaza Strip with access to food could be qualified as a crime against humanity.

On August 18, the enclave's Ministry of Health reported the deaths of 62,000 people since the outbreak of hostilities in Gaza in October 2023. The number of wounded exceeded 156 thousand.
