Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto praised the summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American Leader Donald Trump in Alaska, saying on August 21 on the Harcosok órája podcast that this meeting reduced the risk of World War III.

"The meeting of the two presidents in Alaska and the subsequent press conference significantly reduced the risk of a possible outbreak of World War III. They didn't eliminate it completely, but they significantly reduced it," he said.

According to him, the meeting of the two "world's leading superpowers is always good news, because there is no better way to ease tensions."

"I think the meeting in Alaska was the most encouraging event in the last three and a half years. And not only because it took place, but also because of how it went and how the two presidents talked about it later," Szijjarto concluded.

The meeting between Putin and Trump took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska. Following the meeting, the Russian president noted the desire of his colleague from the United States to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Trump, in turn, shared that the negotiations went very well, and called the summit in Alaska wonderful.
