Pakistan extends flight ban for Indian aircraft
The Pakistani authorities on Wednesday extended the ban on flights of Indian aircraft in the country's airspace until September 23. This was reported by the Indian Express newspaper on August 20.
"All Indian airlines aircraft will be prohibited from using Pakistan's airspace. The ban also applies to military and civilian aircraft owned or leased by India," the publication says.
It is noted that the ban was initially imposed on April 23 for a period of one month.
In April, it was reported that India would close its airspace to Pakistan-bound aircraft until May 23 of this year.
Relations between New Delhi and Islamabad worsened after the terrorist attack on April 22 near the Indian city of Pahalgam in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 27 civilians. Both countries have closed the only common open land border and suspended visas. New Delhi has also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty.
In June, it was reported that Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, through his assistant, sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin requesting assistance in resolving the conflict between the Islamic Republic and India. The letter noted that Islamabad is ready for constructive negotiations to resolve the conflict with New Delhi.
