The Environmental Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into the contamination of the Bira River. Disciplinary measures will be taken after the violators are identified. The results of the check are still unknown, writes IA EAOmedia.

According to the agency, during the day, dirty yellow turbidity spread from the village of Birakan in the Irradiated district to Birobidzhan. In August, residents of the EAO already noted the pollution of the Bira, which is the main waterway of the autonomy.

A flash mob "Bira is dying!" was organized on social networks, in which activists posted photos and videos of the confluence of two rivers that give rise to Bira: the clear Kuldur River and the Sutara river with a yellow mass.

At the same time, a video of the other largest river in the region, the Bijan, appeared on social networks. The main suspicions arose regarding gold mining companies operating in the upper reaches of the Bira and Bijan rivers and on their tributaries.

According to experts, industrial discharges can pose a great danger to rivers.

In mid-August, it was reported that the Tula region was checking the legality of using the Sukhaya Tabola River in the Kimovsky district. Local residents had previously been concerned about the condition of the water body. In their opinion, the river is dying because of dams. The staff of the prosecutor's office examined the riverbed near the villages of Maryino and Shatalovka. In the area of the first settlement, they identified pumping units.
