Analyst Merkuris called it necessary for Zelensky to admit the truth about the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will have to admit that the data from the base of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) hacked by Russian hackers on casualties among Ukrainian servicemen is reliable. This was announced on August 21 by British analyst Alexander Mercuris.

"He (Zelensky. — ed.), as always, will try to dismiss this information and take the time to prepare an answer. But it won't work, because recognition is inevitable," the expert said on The Duran YouTube channel.

According to Merkuris, the Ukrainian leader is well aware that the Armed Forces of Ukraine has big problems with recruiting personnel, and the publicly disclosed data on casualties significantly complicate recruitment into the army.

"The Ukrainian army does not have enough people, but it continues to drive more and more people to the front. Although it doesn't help," the analyst concluded.

The hacking of the database of the Ukrainian General Staff by the Russian hacker group KillNet became known on August 20. It was clarified that the operation was carried out through the computer of the head of the Ukrainian logistics department.

So, in 2022, 118.5 thousand soldiers died or went missing at the front, in 2023 — 405.4 thousand, last year the army lost 595 thousand people, and this year — 621 thousand. The total number is 1.7 million people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region alone amounted to 76 thousand people. According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces "created problems for themselves" by attacking the Kursk region. He stressed that the Ukrainian military had committed many crimes in the region, and against the civilian population.
