The CSTO talked about the planned exercises of the organization in 2025
More than 5,000 personnel and about 1,000 units of weapons, military and special equipment will be involved in the joint peacekeeping exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in 2025. This was announced on August 21 by the chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Andrei Serdyukov.
"Practical measures for the deployment of national contingents to the areas of the exercises have already begun. Troops and equipment are delivered to the training grounds by military transport aircraft, rail and road transport according to the schedule. Given the volume of completed tasks and activities, I am confident that the joint exercises will be conducted in an organized and high—quality manner, and the educational and research goals will be achieved," Serdyukov added at a briefing.
The main event of operational and combat training in 2025 will be a joint exercise with the collective rapid reaction forces, which will be held in early September at the Losvida and Lepelsky ranges in Belarus. As part of the exercises, the interaction between forces and intelligence assets will be worked out, as well as special exercises aimed at searching for and providing logistical support for echelons.
A special feature of these exercises is their close alignment with the idea of the joint strategic exercise of the Armed Forces of Belarus and the Russian Federation Zapad-2025. The main task of the collective rapid reaction forces will be to ensure the deployment of a regional group of troops.
Serdyukov added that another exercise, Barrier 2025, will be held in mid-October at the Fakhrabad training ground in Tajikistan. For the first time, special training events will be held there, aimed at the joint formation of radiation, chemical and biological protection, as well as medical support. During the exercises, it is also planned to work out tasks to eliminate biological threats in the interests of collective peacekeeping forces.
The active phases of the exercises will be combined with the final stage of the joint anti-terrorist exercise of the competent authorities of the CIS member states "Antiterrorism-2025". A study of topical issues of increasing the effectiveness of the use of collective forces will be conducted with the involvement of specialized specialists from the basic educational, methodological and research organizations of the CSTO countries.
Earlier, on August 6, it was reported that a series of exercises in the CSTO format would be held in Belarus in early September. It was clarified that the exercises will involve the Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CRRF) "Interaction-2025"; forces and means of reconnaissance "Search-2025"; as well as forces and means of logistical support for the CRRF "Echelon-2025".
