Russian scientists have tried to answer the question of the existence of the human soul in the new popular science documentary film NMG DOC "Where does the soul live?". The experiments and research conducted within the framework of the painting are available on the VK Video platform.

The film begins with shocking footage taken in a hospital in China, which shows something transparent flying out of the body of a deceased person. This recording caused a great resonance and generated controversy about the evidence of the existence of the afterlife.

"The soul is a concept that people are very pleased to relate to, meaning some kind of immortality, the continuation of oneself outside the body. Unfortunately, or fortunately, it's just our way of escaping from the fear of death," Egor Musin, an associate professor at Moscow Polytechnic University, said in the film.

The filmmakers tried to solve this mystery with the help of leading Russian scientists. Natalia Bilan, the film's producer, stressed that it was important to avoid esotericism by focusing on scientific research.

The film focuses on research conducted back in 1907 by American scientist Duncan McDougal, who tried to prove the physical existence of the soul by measuring people's weight before and after death. In an interview, Alexander Kaplan, a professor at the Faculty of Biology at Moscow State University, noted that weight loss can be explained by physiological processes such as metabolism.

However, the philosophical and scientific aspects of the topic do not exclude other hypotheses. In the film, neurophysiologist Alexander Kaplan shares his experience working with Buddhist monks and their meditation practices, arguing that the brain stores the experience of a lifetime.

"Clear light is the experience of their whole life. It's stored in the head," Kaplan said.

Studies and testimonies of people who have experienced clinical death are also of interest. Doctors who observed such cases noted that patients brought back to life often describe events that took place around them at the time of death.

"Those pictures, the video sequence, which is described by people who have returned, say, from the other side, it can tell us much more," added Professor Ekaterina Tikhomirova.

On August 15, it was reported that exclusive footage from the production of a new Russian space rocket in a film from the cycle of techno-popular documentaries from NMG DOC reveals the secrets of the latest developments. It was clarified that this film and more than 50 other projects produced by the National Media Group (NMG) can now be viewed on the VK Video platform.
