The domestic MC-21 aircraft will be much more modern and comfortable than some of its Western competitors, such as Airbus or Boeing. This was announced on August 21 by Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rostec State Corporation, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In particular, the new Russian aircraft industry will have wider aisles between seats, larger portholes and more spacious luggage racks. Thus, passengers of the MC-21 will be very comfortable flying on it, the head of Rostec explained.

"For example, the level of technical novelty at the development stage of the Airbus 320neo program was 18%, the Boeing 787 was 40%, and the MC-21 has this parameter of 70%. We use composite materials in power structures, in particular, in the wing. Competitors are still thinking about such solutions in this class of cars," Chemezov said.

During a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on August 5, following the results of the corporation's work over the past period, Chemezov announced that Rostec would begin mass production of Russian MC-21, SJ-100 and Il-114 aircraft for civilian use in 2026. Mishustin, in turn, noted that the Russian side expects import-substituted domestic aircraft, but their production must be reliable, in compliance with the necessary safety requirements.
