- The Investigative Committee has opened a case against a militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suspected of a terrorist attack in the Kursk region.
A criminal case has been opened against Sergei Voitovich, a soldier of the 225th separate assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), suspected of committing a terrorist act in the Kursk region. This was announced on Thursday, August 21, by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.
The investigation found that in June 2025, Voitovich, together with other Ukrainian servicemen, illegally invaded the territory of Russia. In the Kursk region, in the village of Gordeyevka in the Korenevsky district, Voitovich, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle and ammunition, used weapons against civilian infrastructure and prevented the evacuation of civilians in order to destabilize the government. As a result of the criminal actions, public safety was damaged and significant property damage was caused to local residents.
"The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case against a soldier of the 225th separate assault regiment of the Russian Military Academy, Sergei Voitovich. He is suspected of committing a terrorist act in the Kursk region," Petrenko added.
During the fighting, Wojtowicz was detained by members of the Russian Armed Forces and handed over to the investigation.
