Seismologists recorded an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 off the eastern coast of Kamchatka. This was reported on August 21 in the Telegram channel of the Kamchatka branch of the FIT of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The earthquake occurred at 15:44 local time (06:44 Moscow time).
According to monitoring data, the epicenter of the seismic event was located 208 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and the source was located at a depth of 50.4 km in the Pacific Ocean.
The day before, an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 occurred at a distance of 93 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. On the same day, an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 also occurred in the Severo-Kurilsk area of the Sakhalin Region. A natural disaster occurred at a distance of 92 km from the city.
