Most dental self-treatment kits, which are freely sold on the Internet, do not have permits confirming the quality and safety of this product, the international Anti-Counterfeit association told Izvestia.

We are talking about certificates of conformity and registration certificates (issued by Roszdravnadzor). The former confirm the safety and compliance of a product or service with certain standards and specifications. The second is the entry of the product into the State Register of Medical Devices.

Dental fillings belong to medical devices, so they must be registered in accordance with the established procedure with Roszdravnadzor, Alexander Nosenko, head of the Center for the Protection of Copyright Holders of the International Anti-Counterfeit Association, told Izvestia.

"For each such product, the seller must have a registration certificate, and a certificate of conformity cannot replace it in this situation. The lack of a registration certificate indicates that the safety and quality of the products have not been confirmed," he added.

Meanwhile, a sample analysis of publicly available product cards by the association's experts has shown that many such sets of permits do not exist. And also, there is often no name and no normal packaging. Sellers sell materials for seals in bulk in plastic bags, which lack identification marks.

We are talking about the circulation of falsified, substandard and unregistered medical products, Anton Talyzenkov, vice-president of the Association of Organizations for the Examination of the Quality of Medicines and Other Products, lawyer, told Izvestia.

"Such an act is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to five years with a fine of 500,000 rubles to two million rubles," the lawyer said.

It is dangerous to "treat" a tooth with such a temporary filling, Bella Dyshekova, a dental therapist, told Izvestia.

This can lead to complications such as periostitis, osteomyelitis and, in the worst case, phlegmon.

"And phlegmon is already a borderline condition between life and death, and it's very serious," the dentist warned.
