On August 20, the press service of the International Skating Union (ISU) published on its official website a list of participants in the qualifying tournament for figure skaters for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy.

Among the Russian figure skaters, Adelia Petrosyan and Peter Gumennik were admitted to the qualifying tournament. Alina Gorbacheva and Vladislav Dikidzhi are going to the selection as substitutes. Sports and dance couples were not allowed to participate in the competition. The skaters will compete under a neutral status.

"In December 2024, the ISU council announced the admission of Russians to Olympic qualification, providing one quota each in men's and women's categories. <...> The qualifying tournament will be held from September 17 to 21 in Beijing," Sport-Express reported.

Earlier, on May 13, the ISU approved applications for participation in the qualifying tournament for the 2026 Olympics for 22 Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short-track athletes. A similar decision was made at the request of six figure skaters and seven skaters from Belarus.

On the same day, the Russian Skating Union began discussions with the ISU about the possibility of neutral status for athletes who were not eligible for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
