The Russian hacker group KillNet, having hacked the database of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on dead and missing soldiers, obtained footage of the militants' documents from it. Photos of the papers appeared on August 20 at the disposal of Izvestia.

It is specified that the file of the General Staff shows the losses of the Ukrainian army for three years. So, in 2022, 118.5 thousand soldiers died or went missing at the front, in 2023 — 405.4 thousand, last year the army lost 595 thousand people, and this year — 621 thousand. The total number is 1.7 million people.

KillNet also received photos of the dead militants, their passports, military tickets, and death certificates. The latest Nuance virus, operating exclusively on the territory of Ukraine, helped to gain access to the database. It downloads data from the victim's device and locks it beyond recovery.

The hacking of KillNet became known earlier in the day. It was clarified that the operation was carried out through the computer of the head of the Ukrainian logistics department.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region alone amounted to 76 thousand people. The result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' adventure was a shortage of personnel in the Ukrainian army and the creation by Russia of a safe zone along the border with Ukraine.
