Grigory Balagurov, Director of the Law and Health Food and Packaging Quality Protection Foundation, warned on Wednesday, August 20, about the dangers of certain components in animal feed.

The specialist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru that food additives and other ingredients can lead to gastrointestinal problems, and others even increase the risk of developing serious diseases in pets.

The expert noted that the antioxidants BHA (E320), BHT (E321) and ethoxychine (E324) are of particular concern. These substances are used to preserve the taste and color of food, but in a number of countries they are limited or banned, as studies have shown their possible connection with tumors and disorders in the body, according to the website. kp.ru .

Balagurov also called for caution regarding certain flavor enhancers and flavors in the feed, in particular the addition of animal protein hydrolysate.

He added that corn or soybeans are poorly digested in animals and can provoke allergic reactions in them. Moreover, traces of pesticides may remain in plant raw materials.

Balagurov also identified yeast among other undesirable ingredients in the feed. They have virtually no nutritional value, but they can cause allergic reactions in animals in the form of itching, rashes, or digestive disorders.

Artificial dyes, which are added to the feed only to make it visually appealing, can cause allergic reactions, overload the liver and contribute to the development of chronic inflammation if consumed regularly, he concluded.

On August 17, Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told how dogs hunt for sneakers and socks. According to the dog handler, a pet's interest in certain objects is often related to the owner's reaction. When the owner tries to take the dog's slippers or socks, the animal perceives it as a game and tries to repeat the actions, reports 360.ru .

Earlier, on July 31, Balagurov warned that in the heat, animal feed, if stored improperly, may lose some of its nutritional properties or turn into a potentially dangerous product.
