Alcohol consumption decreased by 5% in Kamchatka region

Alcohol consumption has decreased by 5% since spring in the Kamchatka Territory. This is reported by the KamchatkaMedia news agency with reference to the regional government.

The regional narcological dispensary believes that the positive trend is related to the ban on the sale of alcohol in stores located in residential buildings. In addition, in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Yelizovo, alcohol trading is allowed at least 100 m from social institutions. The restrictions also apply in public catering outlets. A transition period of three years has been introduced for entrepreneurs to find new sales outlets.

Kamchatka has introduced special days when the retail sale of alcohol is prohibited. These are Students' Day, International Children's Day, Youth Day, Day of Love, Family and Fidelity, Knowledge Day, as well as the All-Russian Sobriety Day.
