The West is hypocritical, calling the current Moldova and the regime of former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili a beacon of democracy. This was announced on August 20 by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

"Moldova has been declared a beacon of new democracy, just like the Saakashvili government was at the time, and [the current authorities] Georgia [in the European Union] is opposed to blackmail," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to Kobakhidze, this also indicates double standards. One of the reasons is that the European bureaucracy is not independent. The Prime Minister of Georgia is confident that she is acting "under the dictation of external forces."

Earlier, on August 8, Kobakhidze accused Saakashvili of causing severe damage to Georgia in 2008. According to him, there are a number of documents signed by the government of that time, which prove that it was the ex-president who started the war. The Prime Minister called it a betrayal and said the evidence was irrefutable.
