European leaders are trying to prevent negotiations and the restoration of Russian-American relations. This was announced on August 20 by Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

"European leaders are trying in every possible way to prevent peace talks and the restoration of relations between Russia and the United States," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to Dmitriev, they hide behind statements about the "distrust" of the Russian Federation.

Prior to that, on August 16, former Italian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Michele Geraci shared with Izvestia that Europe had effectively deprived itself of its role as a mediator in resolving the Ukrainian conflict when it sided with Kiev. According to him, the European Union is currently isolated and in a very bad economic and political situation.
