This precious stone has a number of unique advantages for long-term investment, Elena Levitskaya-Erish, director of SOKOLOV ATELIER, told Izvestia on August 21.

According to the expert, unlike volatile financial instruments, the value of natural rubies increases smoothly and without sudden jumps, demonstrating steady growth. This trend attracts not only traditional investors, but also the younger generation, who consider rare stones as a reliable way to save money.

"Collectors and investors focused on rare and high-quality stones are showing special interest. This trend is clearly expressed at global auctions," the expert said.

The investment attractiveness of rubies is reinforced by their exceptional rarity. The stone has long been one of the five most expensive in the world, and its deposits, especially in Burma (Myanmar), are practically exhausted. The limited influx of new high-quality stones to the market only enhances their value.

"In the market, professionals trust literally 5-6 gemological centers in the world, whose conclusions are considered reference. The certificate from them is a quality guarantee," the expert explained.

The specialist noted that only natural stones with minimal processing, preferably of Burmese origin, with certification from reputable gemological laboratories, have investment value. The most valuable rubies are considered to be Pigeon Blood, a rich blood-red shade without impurities.

In addition, rubies are often more expensive than even diamonds. This trend has been observed since the 19th century and continues today. The loud auction sales became a vivid confirmation.

Unlike diamonds, the ruby market is not affected by short-term fashion trends. The value of a stone is determined by its natural characteristics: depth of color, purity and skill of cutting.
