- In Ukraine, it was reported about the shelling of pensioners by employees of the shopping mall in the Volyn region
Employees of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, the equivalent of the military enlistment office in Ukraine) in the village of Novye Chervishche, Volyn region, fired at police officers who stood up for a disabled man during forced mobilization. This was reported on August 19 by the local TV channel "Avers".
"In Volhynia, the shopping mall shot at women: one was shot in the face," the journalists reported, the report was published on the Aversa YouTube channel.
According to the TV channel, two shopping mall cars were driving through the village. A young man with a diagnosed disability rode past them on a bicycle. The staff of the shopping mall got out of the car, pinned him down and pushed him into the bus. Local residents note that the military immediately began to use force without checking documents.
Elderly women got in the way of the TCC car and started throwing stones at it. Then the servicemen got out of the car and opened fire on the villagers. One of them was shot in the cheek. When the employees of the shopping mall saw the blood, they quickly got into their cars and drove away without providing assistance or calling an ambulance.
"He shot me five or six times. <...> And he hit another woman in the neighborhood here, on the cheek. They took her to the hospital, I don't know if they will operate on her, but of course they will remove it," said Nina, a resident of the village.
The Volynsky Shopping Mall believes that during the performance of their official duties, military personnel became the object of aggressive actions by a group of civilians who threw stones, the journalists of the Avers channel noted.
Local residents added that mostly pensioners, women and children remained in the village — the men were taken to the front.
On the same day, August 19, the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, reported that employees of the shopping mall forcibly mobilized a man while his children prayed and asked for help. A man in a car with children tried to break away from the workers of the Ukrainian military enlistment office, but the road was blocked for him. When the cars stopped, one of the employees of the shopping mall knocked out the window of the car and forced the man to leave the salon.
Meanwhile, on August 4, The Financial Times newspaper pointed to an increase in resistance to forced mobilization and an increase in attacks on shopping mall employees. So, in Vinnytsia on August 1, relatives of the mobilized went to a rally at one of the shopping malls, where the conscripts were sent to the stadium. Later, the Vinnytsia Shopping Mall explained the gathering of military personnel at the stadium by the need for a medical examination.
