- The State Duma reported a decrease in the number of migrant children admitted to school
The number of migrant children enrolled in primary and secondary schools in Russia has decreased. This was announced on August 20 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
"The results of enrollment in primary and secondary schools in a number of regions show a significant reduction in the number of foreign children admitted to study. This is due to: incomplete or unreliable documents provided; unsatisfactory results of passing the Russian language proficiency test," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Thus, it is noted that in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the number of applications for admission to school from foreign citizens decreased by almost 10 times, in the Voronezh Region — by seven times.
On August 19, the speaker of the State Duma announced that a system had been created in Russia to prevent illegal migration. Volodin added that in the first six months of this year, 17% more migrant violators were deported from Russia than in the same period of 2024.
