Soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) opened fire on a group of Palestinians near the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, killing at least seven people. This was reported on August 20 by the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera.

It is indicated that the participants were waiting for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

In total, according to Al Jazeera, Israeli forces have killed at least 28 Palestinians in the enclave since dawn this day.

A day earlier, it was reported that six Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip when Israel fired on tents housing refugees from the fighting and people who had lost their homes. In addition, four civilians were killed when shells hit a tent in Deir el-Balakha. At least 21 people died overnight, Al Jazeera said.

On August 8, the Israeli Security Cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to occupy Gaza City. The next day, on August 9, thousands of people protested in Tel Aviv against the Israeli Prime minister's plan. Later, on August 10, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, stressed that Russia strongly condemns the intention of the Israeli authorities to establish control over the Gaza Strip. He clarified that the relevant actions violate international law.
