Fraudsters resort to various manipulations in an attempt to involve Russians in droppery. This was announced on August 20 by the Department for the Organization of the Fight against the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"Most of the detained droppers during interrogations claim that they were not aware of the illegal nature of their activities. Most of the time it's a lie," the Telegram channel says.
It is clarified that the attackers are trying to use the Russians "in the dark." Most often, they contact a potential victim due to an alleged erroneous transfer and ask for a refund to other banking details, offer assistance to firms allegedly withdrawing assets blocked abroad by transferring to a "secure" account, offer "work" in a cryptocurrency exchange organization or ask them to withdraw and transfer money for pensioners.
In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation clarified that fraudsters offer citizens to transfer allegedly prize money or "investor income" to a dropper's card with subsequent transfer to another person, call on behalf of a freelance police officer with a proposal to "catch criminals", and also ask to "borrow" the card or make an allegedly secure transfer after establishing contact on the site. dating sites.
In particular, the attackers offer "easy earnings" for schoolchildren and students. According to this scheme, it is necessary to issue a card and transfer it to third parties for "salary projects", keep records or attract friends.
On August 13, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office announced its intention to recover about 900 million rubles from the droppers. It was clarified that since the beginning of this year, more than 1.3 thousand lawsuits have been filed in the courts in the interests of victims of telephone scams.
Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, announced on July 24 that Moscow investigators had opened the first criminal case under the article on droppery.
