Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz approved the operation to capture the city of Gaza, it was called "Gideon's Chariots 2." This was announced on August 20 by the Israeli state television and radio company Kan.
The authors of the material clarified that Katz, after approving the plan, stated that "with the completion of the operation, Gaza will change its appearance and will no longer look the way it did in the past."
It is noted that the mobilization of the military reserve in Israel will begin soon.
On August 4, the Ynet portal reported on Israel's preparation of a plan for the complete occupation of the Gaza Strip. It was clarified that the Israeli leadership intends to switch to active combat operations throughout the enclave. At the same time, the government noted that the army's actions will be conducted even in areas where hostages are being held.

Meanwhile, on August 18, the Palestinian Hamas movement officially confirmed that the mediators had received a positive response to the proposal for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. Dmitry Gendelman, an adviser to the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said on the evening of August 18 that Israel had received a response from Hamas intermediaries to the proposal for a deal on the Gaza Strip.
On August 19, political analyst Dmitry Brije, in a conversation with Izvestia, noted that the agreement on a 60-day truce between Israel and Hamas, reached with the assistance of Egypt and Qatar, is temporary. He noted that this agreement reflects a delicate balance, as it is known that Israel seeks to return its citizens, while showing brutality. Hamas is looking for political recognition and time to regroup.
