- Zakharova spoke about the meaning of the map of Ukraine at the White House during Zelensky's visit
The map of Ukraine, which was displayed at the White House during the talks between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, became a powerful slap in the face for the Kiev regime, designed to remind it of what is happening in reality. This was stated on August 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on Sputnik radio.
"He was, this drawing here, such a powerful slap in the face that was supposed to bring them to their senses. All those who, for several years, in isolation from history, in isolation from geography, in isolation from reality, talked about the battlefield where everything should be decided, not understanding what they were talking about," she said.
Washington most likely hoped that such a technique would "magically" sober up Zelensky, but it would be "very difficult for anyone to finally bring him to his senses," Zakharova noted.
According to her, the map of Ukraine clearly demonstrated to the head of the Kiev regime who he was covering up and who was hiding behind him, as well as "how much they had lost in every sense."
Zelensky and Trump met at the White House on August 18. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, Zelensky and Trump met with the leaders of the European Union countries.
A large map of Ukraine was displayed in the Oval Office where Trump and Zelensky were sitting. On it, the eastern part of the country, highlighted in pink, shows the territory that Russia currently controls — about 20% of the land. At the end of the meeting, the head of the Kiev regime joked that he would like to take with him the map of Ukraine that was shown during the negotiations.
