During the 24th meeting of the Special Representatives of China and India on the Sino-Indian border in New Delhi, the parties reached a consensus. This was reported on the website of the diplomatic department on August 20.
"Both sides agreed to seek a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable framework for resolving the border issue from the political point of view of the overall situation of bilateral relations and in accordance with the agreement on political guidelines signed by the two countries in 2005," the statement said.
The parties also agreed to establish a group of experts on border demarcation within the framework of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on the China-India Border (WMCC). India and China will also create a separate group on border issues that will promote peace in the surrounding areas.
