Politico reported on Netanyahu's accusation of anti-Semitism against Macron

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused French President Emmanuel Macron of anti-Semitism because of the French leader's intention to recognize the state of Palestine. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on August 20.

"Your call for a Palestinian state adds fuel to the anti—Semitic fire. <...> It rewards the terror of [the Palestinian movement] Hamas, toughens the movement's refusal to release hostages, and encourages those who threaten French Jews," the newspaper quoted Netanyahu as saying.

In response, Macron said that France protects fellow Jews, despite its intention to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state.
