On August 20, the foreman of the workers, who were reportedly in the position of slaves on a farm in the Voronezh Region, told Izvestia about their work.

"We all came here to work from different cities. We are not locals. You never know what, something will happen - they will say that we did it. Many people asked them not to give them the money themselves, because many are weak on drinking," said brigadier Andrei.

He noted that all the farm staff had been given phones. According to him, the farm gates were always open, while the workers were "asked" not to leave them.

One of the workers named Eduard also stated that he was satisfied with the working conditions at the enterprise. The man clarified that he goes to work every day and has not experienced violence all the time.

"A job is a job. You can't do without screaming. No matter what kind of work there is, there are quarrels and truces everywhere," added one of the women working on the farm.

On August 19, the Belarusian Embassy in Russia announced that it would check reports of slaves on a farm in the Voronezh Region. They added that the phone numbers of the missing Belarusians had been identified, and one of them had been reached. The situation is currently under the control of the Embassy.

On May 19, the state prosecution requested that Natalia Butenko, a resident of the Moscow region, be found guilty of slavery. She was required to be sentenced to six years in a penal colony. It was noted that a 62-year-old woman, along with accomplices, lured visitors with allegedly high-paying jobs, settled them in an apartment, after which she took away documents and forced them to beg on the street. The prisoners were severely punished for any wrongdoing.
