Bloomberg learned about the readiness of about 10 countries to send troops to Ukraine
About 10 countries have expressed their willingness to send troops to Ukraine as part of providing possible security guarantees for Kiev. This was reported on August 19 by Bloomberg, citing sources.
"About 10 countries are ready to send their troops to <...> the country," the interlocutors said on condition of anonymity.
It is noted that this was clarified during the summit of European officials, which took place on Tuesday, August 19. The meeting was devoted to a plan for the possible deployment of French and British troops to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement. During the conversation, the number of estimated forces and the location of military personnel were also discussed.
According to the agency, the prerequisite for such plans was a meeting of the leaders of the European Union (EU) with US President Donald Trump at the White House, which confirmed the commitment of the United States to security guarantees. At the same time, the nature of possible American support for such initiatives remains unclear.
On August 19, White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced that the United States would discuss acceptable security guarantees for Ukraine with Russia. She added that the United States does not rule out air support as part of such guarantees.
Earlier in the day, Trump noted the desire of France, Germany and Britain to deploy troops in Ukraine. The American leader also noted that while he holds his post as head of state, there will be no American troops in Ukraine.
