In Yekaterinburg, a young child suffered an arm injury on an escalator in a shopping center. This was announced on August 19 in the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region.

"On the evening of August 19, 2025, in the Chkalovsky district of the city, an incident occurred in a shopping center on Akademika Shvarts Street — a young child was injured on an escalator," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

The head of the press service of the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valery Gorelykh, said that at the time of the incident the mother was with the child, she came to the shopping center with two children. The child has received the necessary medical care. A criminal case has been opened on this incident under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.

"Now, investigators, together with the police and regulatory authorities, are finding out all the details of what happened: they are interrogating witnesses, the management and staff of the shopping center, and examining documents on escalator maintenance," the Interior Ministry said.

In addition, the severity of the injury suffered by the child is being determined.

Earlier, on July 16, a child's hand was pinched on the escalator of the Akademicheskaya metro station in St. Petersburg. It was noted that the child was hospitalized, he had already received the necessary assistance.
