Pavel Podkolzin, a former basketball player of the National Basketball Association (NBA), set a world record on August 19, becoming the tallest football player in the history of professional matches.

Podkolzin, who with a height of 226 cm became the tallest football player in the world, appeared in the starting line-up of the Amkal amateur football club (FC) in the second round match of the FONBET Cup of Russia against Kaluga and was replaced in the 18th minute. In addition, 14-year-old Vasily Goncharov entered the field, becoming the youngest player in Russian professional football.
