- In the USA, they learned about the likely departure of millionaires from Britain due to taxes
About 60% of British millionaires expressed their willingness to leave the country in the event of a new wealth tax. This was reported on August 19 by the Bloomberg news agency, citing a survey by the consulting company Arton Capital.
"More than half of the British millionaires who took part in the survey said they would be more likely to leave the country if the Labour government introduced a new wealth tax. About 60% of respondents said that, in their opinion, their lives could be better abroad," the publication says.
Almost half of the millionaire Labour Party voters surveyed said they would be more inclined to leave for the European Union (EU) if a new tax were introduced. According to an Arton study, the United States topped the ranking of countries most attractive for moving among wealthy Britons, followed by Canada, Australia and the United Arab Emirates, indicating a desire for low-tax and English-speaking countries.
On February 13, protesting farmers forced British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to interrupt a visit to Buckinghamshire County in southeastern England. They came by tractor to protest against the inheritance tax changes.
