- Kallas announced the date of adoption of the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia
The next, 19th package of European Union (EU) sanctions against Russia should be ready by next month. This was announced on August 19 by the head of the EU Diplomatic Service, Kaya Kallas.
"The next package of sanctions against Moscow should be ready by next month," she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Kallas added that the EU will continue to influence the Russian economy.
EC representative Ariana Podesta said on August 14 that the European Union has no plans to ease anti-Russian sanctions in the event of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. She also denied reports by the British Sky News channel about EU plans to allegedly ease restrictions in the event of a truce in Ukraine.
Later, on August 19, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from the Czech Republic, Katerina Konechna, reported that the restrictions imposed by the Union countries against Russia did not exert significant pressure on the country, but only rallied it. She also stressed that Europe is unable to continue the conflict on the side of Ukraine, adding that almost 70% of Ukrainians want the conflict to end.
