At an online meeting of the coalition of the willing, the leaders of the countries spoke about the need to support Ukraine in the future. This was announced on August 19 by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the social network X (former. Twitter).
He noted that the leaders of Canada, Japan, Turkey, New Zealand and European countries appreciated the results of the meeting between US Presidents Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
"We have all confirmed the need to continue supporting Ukraine in its <conflict> with Russia," the Prime Minister wrote.
The talks between Putin and Trump took place on August 15 at the American military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, and lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. During a joint press conference, the Russian president noted the desire of his colleague from the United States to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Trump, in turn, shared that the negotiations went very well and called the summit in Alaska wonderful.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on August 19 that there was a very good atmosphere at the talks in Alaska. He also noted that it was clear from the Alaska summit that the American president's team "sincerely wants to achieve a long-term result."
