Trump ruled out sending American troops to Ukraine during his presidency
US President Donald Trump has categorically denied the possibility of sending American troops to Ukraine, saying it would be impossible under his presidency. He made this statement on August 19 in an interview with Fox News channel.
"I can assure you of this, and I am the president," he replied to a question from reporters about guarantees of the absence of the American military contingent in Ukraine.
These words were a reaction to rumors spread in the media about possible changes in the US military strategy regarding the Ukrainian conflict.
The day before, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that following a meeting of the leaders of the United States, the European Union (EU) and Ukraine at the White House, the process of working out security guarantees for Kiev had begun.
Later, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said that security guarantees for Ukraine would be finalized and displayed on paper in 7-10 days.
Prior to that, on August 16, Trump told European leaders that Washington was ready to provide the security guarantees for Ukraine that it was requesting. At the same time, according to NBC News, the guarantees under the discussed peace agreement will not include membership in NATO.
