The share of crossovers and SUVs in the Russian market has set a record

In July 2025, the share of the SUV segment (crossovers and SUVs) in the volume of new cars sold in Russia set a historical record, reaching 71.8%. In total, 86.6 thousand such cars were sold in the Russian Federation in the middle of summer, the analytical agency Autostat reported on August 19.

The previous maximum of this indicator was recorded in September last year — 71%. In the following months, it was in the range of 65-69%. For the first time, the share of sales of crossovers and SUVs exceeded the 70% mark in December 2023 (70.7%).

Analysts explained the high market share of crossovers and SUVs by the abundance of Chinese models, among which SUVs dominate. Its rapid growth in the Russian market occurred after the withdrawal of European, Japanese, Korean and American brands from the Russian market.
