- The climber told about the chances of rescue of the Russian woman stuck on the peak of Victory
There are chances for the rescue of Russian Natalia Nagovitsina, who is stuck at the peak of Victory in Kyrgyzstan due to a broken leg, but we must act promptly. This was announced to Izvestia on August 19 by climber Igor Korovin, who is familiar with the woman.
"We need to assemble the team very quickly so that it goes up. Because it's still at least five days away, and then it takes another week to get down. At least she has to spend 10-12 days in extreme conditions, and this is a heavy load for the body," Korovin warned.
He stressed that only experienced and acclimatized climbers can help the woman — in all other cases, in his opinion, attempts to save Nagovitsina will not be successful.
"This is the cemetery of honored masters of sports — Victory Mountain," he concluded.
The fact that 47-year-old Natalia was stuck on Victory Peak at an altitude of 7 thousand meters with a broken leg was reported earlier in the day by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan. It was noted that the woman's partner gave her first aid and went for help. The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that due to the almost zero visibility in the mountainous region, the next rescue operation is scheduled only for August 20.
