The attackers convince the victims to dial the fraudsters' numbers. This allows you to bypass banking and digital security systems designed to block incoming questionable calls. This was announced on August 19 by the Department for the Organization of the Fight against the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"Scammers create an artificial situation of anxiety or urgency by using fake documents and/or messages and leaving a contact number. The response to the "threat" is to make an independent call to the specified number, and this is their goal," the department's Telegram channel says.

Scammers can send an "urgent and important" message in a messenger, by e-mail or in a mailbox. It will contain information about hacking an account on Gosuslugi, the need to urgently reissue bank documents or a card, problems with paying for housing and communal services or fines. In addition, attackers may write that a person should contact the alleged investigator by phone number.

According to the agency, scammers resort to such actions because a person, due to anxiety, trusts more the one who deals with his problem. In addition, anti-fraud systems do not see an incoming call from an attacker, which can be blocked.

Earlier in the day, Dmitry Morev, director of information security at RuStore, told Izvestia that more and more malicious applications are being distributed through short videos on social networks, as it is there that users most often encounter fake information and links leading to sites with infected APK files.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
