A member of the expert council spoke about the pension increase for pensioners in September.

Starting from September 1, several categories of pensioners in Russia will receive a significant increase in monthly payments. The increase is due to planned annual recalculations and legally established allowances for certain age and social groups, Valery Tumin, a member of the Expert council on Digital Economy Development at the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, told Izvestia on August 19.

"First of all, those who stopped working in August will receive an increase. For them, the amount of the insurance pension will be automatically recalculated, taking into account all missed indexations. This is a one—time recalculation, but its result is an increased amount, which is fixed on an ongoing basis," the expert noted.

According to him, a particularly significant increase in payments awaits citizens who turned 80 in August. For them, the fixed part of the pension is doubled.

"The fixed payment will increase from 8,907 rubles 70 kopecks to 17,815 rubles 40 kopecks. Plus, if care is provided, a monthly compensation payment of 1,314 rubles is added. As a result, the total increase may exceed 10 thousand rubles, and what is important is that these surcharges are not one—time, but permanent monthly," the specialist emphasized.

A similar mechanism is applied to the disabled of group I, who received this status in August. Their fixed payment is also doubled, plus a dependency allowance is provided.

"The recalculation for working pensioners has already been made on August 1. The maximum increase was the cost of three pension points, which is about 437 rubles per month. This amount is also included in the pension on an ongoing basis, and such recalculation is carried out annually," Tumin summed up.

Earlier, on August 19, it was reported that the average old-age pension in Russia is 25,098 rubles as of July 1, 2025. At the same time, the payment for working pensioners reaches 2.1 thousand rubles per month, for non—working - 25.8 thousand rubles.
