Lavrov recalled Finland's accession to NATO contrary to the treaty with the USSR
Assurances of good-neighborliness with Russia did not become an obstacle for Finland to join NATO. This was stated on August 19 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.
"They (the Finnish authorities. They signed an agreement in which it was said about eternal neutrality, that no one, neither the Soviet Union nor Finland, would ever join structures directed against the other contracting party. Where is all this? Now they have joined that structure (NATO. — Editor's note), which considers Russia an enemy," the minister said.
