Sweden is ready to contribute to providing security guarantees to Ukraine after clarifying all the details. This was announced on August 19 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom, Maria Malmer Steenergaard, at a joint press conference of the foreign ministers of the Nordic countries and Canada.

"As for security guarantees, I would say that although we have been discussing this for quite some time, we are still at an early stage of the process. Sweden is ready to contribute, but we will come back to exactly how, when the details are determined," she said at the meeting, which was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Finnish Foreign Ministry.

The Minister stressed that the participation of the United States is important in this issue. According to her, Western politicians still have a lot to agree on in the "coalition of the willing."

During talks on August 18 with President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, American leader Donald Trump announced that Kiev would receive great assistance on security issues.

On August 19, it was reported that U.S. and European officials were going to immediately begin work on providing Ukraine with security guarantees. As Bloomberg noted, citing sources, the security guarantees will be aimed at strengthening the armed forces without any restrictions.
