Everyone in the national team: who will play for Russia with Jordan and Qatar
The coaching staff, led by Valery Karpin, announced the expanded Russian national team for friendly matches with Jordan and Qatar in September. Many representatives of foreign championships turned out to be in it, including PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. There are also plenty of young players on the list who have performed well at the start of the new RPL season. For more information, see the Izvestia article.
Understandable potential
There are several interesting points in the expanded line-up. Alexander Golovin, one of the team's leaders, was included in the list of 39 players — the Monaco midfielder skipped previous training camps. However, while Golovin played a lot for the French club in friendly matches and spent 89 minutes on the field in the first round of Ligue 1, Matvey Safonov has not played for PSG for a long time.
— Some players are showing themselves clearly now, and some are not playing, but we know their potential, capabilities and experience, so we include them in the expanded list. They may not always play in the championship, but there are still Cup matches, so we understand their physical condition from cup games," Karpin said.
The Miranchuk brothers also received calls. Anton is rumored to leave Sion this summer and is considering offers, including from Russia. Insiders report that Dynamo, which was headed by Karpin before the start of the season, is the closest to signing the midfielder.
— As I said earlier, knowing the potential of certain players who don't play as often, we include them in the squad. This applies to both Anton Miranchuk and a number of other players, for example, from Zenit... We send challenges to most of our legionnaires. And when we make the final list, we will look at what physical condition they are in, first of all. We have two matches, we want to at least consider all the candidates," said the head coach of the Russian national team.
There are also young guys in the squad who showed themselves at the start of the season: Vadim Rakov, Matvey Lukin, Kirill Glebov.
—Glebov is one of the most promising young football players in our country," Valery Gazzaev, former coach of CSKA and the Russian national team, told Izvestia. — The guy has a very high speed, excellent technique. It has a high-quality transmission. He's fighting. I think we'll see Glebov in a big, leading European club soon. I'm not exaggerating. And at the same time, I hope that my praise will not spoil Glebov. It is important that he himself does not stop in his development and sets a goal for himself to be in a big European team.
New faces
Karpin also drew attention to Mingiyan Beveyev's game at Baltika — the 29-year-old defender can make his debut in the national team if he remains on the final list.
As for the goal line, for the first time in his career, Akron goalkeeper Vitaly Gudiev received a call.
— Vitaly is a goalkeeper with excellent physical abilities and inclinations. Since the age of 18, his career has been taking place before my eyes. In my opinion, he did not realize all his possibilities. This season brings reliability and stability. I think this is due to the goalkeeper coach of the club, Vladimir Savchenko. I recently attended Akron's training sessions. Vitaly is in good shape, and by including him in the extended list, the coaching staff makes it clear that attention has been paid to Vitaly Gudiev," goalkeeper coach Vitaly Kafanov explained his choice.
The coach also commented on the inclusion of Spartak goalkeeper Alexander Maksimenko and Krasnodar goalkeeper Stanislav Agkatsev in the extended national team.
— I recently attended Spartak's training sessions, talked with the team's goalkeeping coaches and with Alexander himself. The current situation and the position in the table did not affect his psychological state or his confidence in any way. Stas is so far the only one of all the candidates competing in Russia who has not given reason to doubt that he should be called up to the national team,— added Kafanov.
At the upcoming training camp, Karpin's team will play the following friendly matches: with Jordan on September 4 in Moscow and with Qatar on September 7 in Riyadh, after which the players will return to their clubs.
— We are already analyzing the rivals, — Karpin emphasized. — I can say that Qatar, which we already played against two years ago, has not become weaker. Jordan is a participant in the World Cup. Maybe it doesn't sound like it to someone, but it's a very decent team. Therefore, we are preparing for the matches with all seriousness.
Further rivals are also known: on October 10, the Russian national team will face Iran in Volgograd, on October 14 — with Bolivia in Moscow, on November 12 — with Peru in St. Petersburg, and on November 15 — with Chile in Sochi.
The fully expanded Russian national team squad for the September matches is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Matvey Safonov (PSG, France), Alexander Maksimenko (Spartak), Stanislav Agkatsev (Krasnodar), Evgeny Staver (Rubin), Vitaly Gudiev (Akron);
