Peace in the Caucasus is of strategic importance to Iran. This was stated by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at a briefing in Yerevan on August 19.

"Any border changes in the region can cause geopolitical rivalry. In this regard, peace in the Caucasus is of strategic importance to us," Sputnik Armenia quotes the president as saying.

According to him, Iran and Armenia are determined to raise the level of partnership to a strategic one, and the parties intend to intensify mutual visits. In this context, he invited Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Iran.
