The Armenian forces will ensure the safety of the route through the Syunik region. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on August 19.

"I want to emphasize once again that the communication routes passing through Armenia will be exclusively under the jurisdiction of Armenia, and security will be provided by Armenia, and not by any third country," he said during a briefing with Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian, quoted by Sputnik Armenia.

The Armenian leader added that the agreements signed in the United States with Azerbaijan will in practice open up new opportunities for railway cooperation between Armenia and Iran, including through the Nakhichevan–Julfa railway line. This will mean the access of Iran's railways to Armenia and, eventually, to the Black Sea, the newspaper reports. News.am .

According to Pashinyan, this is fully consistent with the Crossroads of the World project. He said that he presented to the Iranian president the details of the joint declaration signed on August 8, as well as the preliminary agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. During the meeting in Washington, they agreed to end the confrontation and resume diplomatic relations. Later, Pashinyan said that Yerevan and Baku established peace by signing documents in the United States.

Later, on August 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with Pashinyan, expressed his readiness to contribute to the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. In addition, the Russian leader stressed the importance of steps that contribute to ensuring sustainable peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
