An investigation is underway in the Voronezh Region into the illegal detention of people on a farm

Investigators have launched an investigation into the illegal detention and beating of people on a farm in the Voronezh Region. This was announced on August 19 by the press service of the SU IC in the region.

According to the department, publications were posted on social networks stating that unknown persons illegally detained citizens and subjected them to violence on a farm located in the village of Podkolodnovka in the Bogucharsky district of the Voronezh Region.

"The Investigative Committee's investigators have organized a check on a social media report about the illegal imprisonment of citizens on a farm in the Voronezh Region," the agency's Telegram channel says.

As an employee of the Alternative volunteer movement told Izvestia, the farm in the Bogucharsky district of the Voronezh Region has been around for several years, and numerous appeals have been received from people affected by labor exploitation.

Earlier, the organization said that about 100 people were being illegally detained on a farm in the village of Podkolodnovka. According to the volunteers, they managed to rescue four workers from labor slavery — their relatives informed the movement about their disappearance.

"We were not allowed to enter the territory itself. They brought out only those people whose names the volunteers could name, for whom there were applications. <...> People wrote to us that their relatives had run away from there a few years ago, that this place had been operating for a very long time," the employee clarified.

She added that after the incident, Alternative received several more applications with the names of missing people who probably live on the farm. According to the volunteer, the owners of the farm can recruit workers "on a daily basis," and it is very difficult to name the actual number of guests.

On the 21st of last year, it became known that on the territory of the Slava Truda farm in the Rostov region, several people were held in slavery on the farm. It is known that the victims managed to escape thanks to volunteers from the Alternative center and the police.
