Ukraine needs to maintain the strength of its armed forces after the end of the conflict with Russia. This was announced on August 19 by French President Emmanuel Macron.

"The main guarantee of security is, first of all, a powerful Ukrainian army," Le Figaro newspaper quoted him as saying.

He added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, numbering "several hundred thousand people" without restrictions, will also need to be "armed."

The day before, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, said that Macron uses the fear of the population about the conflict in Ukraine to advance his agenda. He added that the French president is exaggerating the conflict and wants it to continue in order to turn the European Union (EU) into "a state and endow it with an army."

A day earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the United States Donald Trump had a conversation in Washington. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, the American and Ukrainian presidents talked with the leaders of the European Union countries.

On the same day, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that following a meeting of the leaders of the United States, the European Union (EU) and Ukraine at the White House, the process of working out security guarantees for Kiev had begun. Later, the head of the Kiev regime said that security guarantees for Ukraine would be finalized and displayed on paper in 7-10 days.
