Hero of Russia Igor Kirillov street appeared in Moscow

A street has appeared in Moscow in honor of the Hero of Russia and Hero of Labor, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, who died last year as a result of a terrorist attack. It is located in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Southeastern Administrative District of Moscow.

"General Kirillov Street was named in 2025 in honor of the Hero of the Russian Federation, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation Igor Anatolyevich Kirillov (July 13, 1970 — December 17, 2024)," the plaque says.

At the opening ceremony, the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces, Major General Alexei Rtishchev, spoke about Igor Kirillov's contribution to Russia's security, not only within the country, but also abroad. In particular, he did a lot to prevent Russia from being accused of chemical attacks in Syria, and during the pandemic, a vaccine against coronavirus was created under the leadership of Igor Kirillov.

Alexey Rtishchev noted the role of Igor Kirillov in the re-creation of the 27th Central Research Institute and the Saratov Higher Military Engineering College of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. The Hero of Russia has also put a lot of effort into creating new weapons and equipment, which is now involved in a special military operation.

Kirillov and his assistant died on the morning of December 17, 2024, as a result of detonating an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow.

On January 16, a Moscow court detained three defendants in the criminal case of Kirillov's murder — Batukhan Tochiev, Akhmadjon Kurbonov and Ramazan Padiev (all listed as terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation). According to law enforcement agencies, the detainees, on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), provided housing and personal transport for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack against Kirillov.

On August 17, it was reported that the preliminary investigation into the three defendants, who are Kirillov and his assistant, was completed.
