Russians' expenses at car washes increased by 35% in a year
The average monthly car wash expenses for Russians increased by 35% and reached 734 rubles. This was reported to Izvestia on August 19 by SBERBANK analysts, who studied anonymized customer transactions in the car wash category in 86 regions of the country for the period from January to June 2024 and 2025. Depending on the region, car washing costs range from 331 to 2091 rubles per month.
According to the study, from January to June 2025, men spent three times as much as women on car washes. A significant proportion of transactions were made by customers between the ages of 36 and 55, who use such services more often than others. The main expenses for car washing traditionally fall in the spring months. In the first half of 2024, spending peaked in March and April, and in 2025, March was the leader.
This year, the top five regions in terms of spending the most on car washes remained unchanged compared to last year. Moscow is in the first place (3.3 billion rubles), followed by the Moscow Region (1.5 billion rubles), St. Petersburg (1.06 billion rubles), the Republic of Tatarstan (643 million rubles) and the Sverdlovsk Region (630 million rubles).
The cost of services varies by region by about six times. Residents of the Chechen Republic spend about 331 rubles per month on the service. In the LPR, the Republic of Dagestan, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the Republic of Kalmykia, motorists also spend less than 400 rubles. At the same time, the average cost of car washing in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug exceeded 2 thousand rubles, followed by the Magadan Region (1,331 rubles), Moscow (1,264 rubles), Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (1,113 rubles) and Kamchatka Krai (1,100 rubles).
