The Israeli Foreign Ministry has appointed a new ambassador to Russia.
Oded Yosef, Deputy Director General and Head of the Middle East Department at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed Ambassador to Russia. This was announced on August 19 by the press service of the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
"The Committee for the Appointment of Heads of Foreign Diplomatic Missions of the Israeli Foreign Ministry <...> has decided to appoint Oded Yosef as Israel's ambassador to the Russian Federation," the department's Telegram channel says.
The appointment is due to be approved by the Israeli Government soon.
It is specified that he was previously the Israeli ambassador to Kenya. Throughout his diplomatic service, Yosef has also worked in Israeli missions in Moscow, Washington, and Singapore.
Earlier in the day, Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov announced contacts between Moscow and Tel Aviv on the situation in Syria. According to him, stabilization in Syria will contribute to improving the situation in the entire Middle East.
